3 Steps to Achieve Your Goals in 2022! (without the STRESS)

Around this time of year I always see tons of videos about New Year's Resolutions and goals and it always irks me to hear people go on and on about maintaining discipline putting in tremendous amounts of work and yada yada yada.

Before I even get into my 3 steps, I want to make something clear. Only set goals that you're really passionate about. That means you need to get to the why behind your goals. What's your motivation? How will achieving the goal impact and improve your life?

I see so many people stress about reaching their goals that, when it comes down to it, aren't really something that they want in the first place. Or worse, they spend countless hours working toward something, and succeed, only to find out it wasn't what they were really hoping for.

So, with that said, here's my advice for achieving your goals in 2022 without adding any extra stress!

1: DO NOT set year long goals or even 6 month goals. Because what ends up happening is that you put off doing the work until there’s a sense of urgency.

Then comes November you try to crush a goal that was supposed to take a year in just 2 months and you end up stressing yourself out, get frustrated, give up and don’t set goals the next year.

I’m not saying big picture aspirations aren’t useful, but those big-picture goals should be based more around how you want to feel instead of a specific tangible result.

2: Instead you should set small monthly or weekly or even daily goals that are bite-sized and manageable. That make sense for where you are in THIS moment.

In this way you’ll start to build up momentum and you’ll find that you’re actually crossing things off your list. And that feels good.

And because it feels good you’ll keep making strides. Remember you don’t climb a mountain in one big leap, you take lots and lots of small steps.

3: Don’t worry about getting things perfect when working toward your goals. Listen to the feedback you’re getting along the way.

It’s never about the what, it’s not about the end result anyway, it’s about your approach, it’s about how you’re actually engaging with the challenges that show up.

You’re not supposed to be anywhere but exactly where you are right now, there’s something to learn right now that will help you take the next step.

Be patient and ask for support when you need it. There are plenty of people who want to see you succeed, and I’m one of them!
